Ayu Tomura says "So I picked three for that reason pretty much." Ayu Tomura says "The lightest one on the far end has the tightest space to work with." **Alfred Havlyn nods, finally he went for the heaviest pieces of armor, applying it to the one on the right. Ayu Tomura says "So you have to be able to control your weapon and not accidentally slap the poles." Ayu Tomura says "It has the most forgiving armor in case you mess up and strike it's armor because it's the lightest." **Viridis takes the time to prepare her crossbow, unslinging it from her back. She uses both hands to draw back the string, sleds a bolt then does something horrifying - she wields it in her right hand while her left draws her rapier. Ayu Tomura says "The middle one is less tucked away in a tight space but it has heavier armor." Ayu Tomura says "It's kind of like a basic training dummy." Ayu Tomura says "Then the last one is the heaviest one obviously, with the most space and the most armor." Ayu Tomura says "I also put a wooden log if you want to try practicing shimmying up a log." Ayu Tomura says "I might go get some empty crates and align them so we can practice our acrobatics and whatnot." **Viridis practices her movement a bit, just getting used to it. She extends her crossbow arm out, holding it high standing side on like that shit pistol animation in red orchestra. Ayu Tomura says "Give it a try, Alfred." Alfred Havlyn says "I could h-Oh! Sure." **Viridis rests her foil across her chest defensively in the meantime, getting used to keeping it there where it can be further used if required rather than out the way or over her shoulder like she was used to. **Alfred Havlyn reaches to unsheathe his Gladius, tucking it under his arm carefully as he approached the dummy on the far left. He carefully took up a certain position, firmly planting his feet to the floor as he readied his Gladius...Before swinging towards one of the more exposed portions of the dummy, despite the weak armor. **He was sure not to hit one of the poles on the side however. Alfred Havlyn says "Hm..This is actually pretty nice. Thank you Ayu." Ayu Tomura says "Mhm." **Viridis shifts her stance yet again, getting used to quickly drawing her weapon up and steady - bringing the weapon to her sights, rather than the other way around. **Ayu Tomura brings her spear - or rather glaive around in hand. She holds it and begins spinning it in her grip, before firmly grasping with both hands. She gets into her stance and abruptly slashes upwards at the dummy, striking at it's underarm. She brings the spear back and continues swiping, alternating between above and below attacks. **Alfred Havlyn took a low breath in, as he readied himself in a combat stance he attempted to replicate..Before he swung again, towards a different portion of the dummy, performing a series of controled swings, towards the exposed portions of the dummy. **Ayu Tomura slashes down, glancing off the dummy before turning the glaive around and swiping up from the other end. She pulls back, before thrusting the end of the glaive into the coif, before pulling the glaive back and letting it sling back around her, satisfied with her dummies. **Alfred Havlyn had been satisfied with his dummy as well, looking over at Ayu before she finished her performance, speaking with a soft smile. "Spear's quite the upgrade since the dungeon." **Viridis shifts side to side on the spot, purposely shifting her footwork in the manner she was used to to get a better feel of the difficult she'd present herself taking such a strategy. She steps forth, letting her weight come down into the step with the bow raised - retreating after. "Hm. Seems simple enough." She unsleds her bolt, tucks it amongst her kit and resheathes her rapier. Ayu Tomura says "I sure hope it is." Ayu Tomura says "This costed me a bit of money." Ayu Tomura says "Maybe I can get it refined a bit more later, it's still not enough to penetrate a dunecrawler like the one we fought."
Alfred trained for a few moments with some dummies set up by Ayu, practicing his skill with his Iron Gladius.
Alfred's skin is slowly deteriorating worse and worse from the killing of Dacius, and his will to go on has broken for a moment. He is unsure if his purity from the Ashen Curse remains, or if he's acquired something worse. He's buried Dacius along with Viridis, beside the Church.
I did not mention it before, but Alfred's Gladius was broken in a spar where Hideo borrowed it to combat Count Daniel. At the Gate quest, he borrowed a lengthy Dunecrawler talon from Crockta.
In a Dungeon made by Cereal, Alfred had nearly been possessed by a spirit, but managed to kill/finish off two that were attacking others. He also managed to get multiple hits into the Dunecrawler inside, most of them not penetrating so much, wit his Mace's lethality. He left unscathed, spare for a bruise from the tail the beast whipped him around with at first detection.
