(Taking the time to learn blacksmithing from Shieldheart and made a copper dagger as part of the lesson)
Rhogar Shieldheart says "So.. the first step is to make the ore into an ingot, there should be a mold there already, just stick both the ore in and when they're liquid, pour them into the mold"
Rhogar Shieldheart says "I'll walk you through everything"
**Sofia Bell drops the two copper ores into the metal container, grabbing the container with huge pliers and stuffing it into the fire for while and once the ores are metal liquid. Bell takes hold of the metal container with the melted ore with her huge pliers and carefully pours the melted copper into the mold, setting down the container after she is done.
Rhogar Shieldheart says "Now, it shouldn't take long to harden, after that take the ingot, and place it on the anvil"
**Once the liquid copper has hardened to the point of being able to hold a solid state. Bell takes the mold and pops out the ingot, now, she places the ingot on the avail.
Rhogar Shieldheart says "Now comes the tricky part, you're gonna have to hammer that ingot into shape, this is the first step"
Sofia Bell says "Hm, do I need to re-heat the ingot first? It's a bit cooled at this point."
Rhogar Shieldheart says "Aye, heat it up and then start hammering, after a bit, heat it up again. repeat this until you're satisfied with the shape of it"
**Sofia Bell takes the ingot back into the hell-pits of the froge, waiting for the ingot to heat to be hammered. Once done with the reheating step, Bell makes usage of sizable metal pliers to grab upon the heated surface of the copper ingot, placing the ingot quickly back on the anvil. Bell reaches around the anvil, grabbing a hammer and starts to hammer the ingot the shape of a dagger or tries to anyways with her skill.
Sofia Bell says "Also, do I need flux to stop any oxidations?"
Rhogar Shieldheart says "The fuc"
Rhogar Shieldheart says "The fucks that mean?"
Rhogar Shieldheart says "Anyway, you're gonna take it to the grinder and grind it to make it sharp and give it a point. grinding is also the step where any engravings are added. but we'll skip that for now"
Sofia Bell says "Flux, it's used to stop the forming of impurities..."
Sofia Bell says "Right."
[LOOC] Rhogar Shieldheart: Just pretend icly there's a grinder.. imagination
**Bell with her dagger in hand, walks to the grinder and places her foot on the pedestal and moves her foot upwards and downwards to spin the grinder as she moves her blade to the grinding stone, making the contract and after many shaping runs, she manages to make a decent point.
Rhogar Shieldheart says "Very good. now you're going to heat it up until it's bright red and hot as hell, then you're gonna dip it in the water"
Sofia Bell says "Alright, I'll harden it then."
**Bell takes her same pair of pliers to take hold of the dagger and digs the blade deep into the coals of the forge, waiting for it to be bright as it can be to her eyes. Bell soon grips the dagger again with her pliers and moves it forth to a wooden bucket filled with water. Bell lunges the blade into the water as steam begins to form from the contract and pulls out the blade quickly.
Rhogar Shieldheart says "Alright. now the blades brittle, you could break it over yer knee if you wanted to, to harden it and make it usable you're gonna repeat that same process you just did but heat it up at a lower temperature."
Rhogar Shieldheart says "Now keep in mind, this is the hardest part and one many many blacksmiths mess up"
Rhogar Shieldheart says "it's your first blade so it's not gonna be perfect"
Sofia Bell says "Right."
Rhogar Shieldheart says "whenever you're ready you can start."
**Bell plies the blade under a mountain of hot coals, waiting and pulling out the blade to see the color, assuming that hopefully that she will find the right temperatures with the colors. Once she is sure about her temperature of her picking. Bell pulls out the dagger from the forge and drowns the blade into the filled water bucket and then pulling out the dagger.
Rhogar Shieldheart says "well done, now just fit a handle on it, there should be one on the chest."
Rhogar Shieldheart says "And then you've made your first dagger"
**Sofia Bell bends over to the chest, opening and taking out a simple wooden oak handle, she closes the chest with handle in hand. Bell takes the steps to properly fit a handle to a metal blade, heating, drilling a hole for the blade to fit in the handle, the sorts.
(Bell taking more lessons from Shield Heart, in this lesson, Bell is making a copper short sword.)
**Bell pops the two copper ores into a container, she then takes hold of pliers to grip the container and moves it into the fire pits of the burning forge, waiting for the ore to melt into a fluid state. Once the copper ores have melted into liquid, Bell uses her pliers to grab upon the container with the ores and pours the copper liquid into an ingot mold, waiting again for the metal to change its state from liquid to solid. Now, Bell taps the mold to break the copper ingot as she takes the ingot with her pliers to move the ingot into the forge, burying it under a mountain of burning coals. Bell checks on the ingot every now and then to see, if the ingot is ready and when the ingot gets to a bright red color, Bell pulls out the ingot from the forge and brings the ingot to an anvil, taking a hammer and starts to hammer the shit out of the ingot, shaping and forming it into a short sword before placing the short sword into the forge and again waiting. After the sword gets to a bright red, Bell grips the short sword and drowns it into a bath of water, hardening it once. She takes the short sword and places it back into the forge. Once the blade has reached the desired temperature that Bells seeks, which should be lower than the last hardening, she pulls out and plunges the short sword into the bucket of water, finishing the sword without adding a handle yet.
**Bell takes a simple oak handle from the chest, she then moves the blade metal handle into the forge, waiting and waiting for the temperature to be met. But while that goes on, Bell drills a hole in the oak handle to fit the metal handle of the shortsword. Now with the shortsword being heated a bit, Bell fits the handle on to the sword with the heated metal, acting as a glue. She taps the handle into place and now she is done with the sword.
**Because she rather not write another text wall, Bell takes the time to inscribe her name into the side of the blade and also grinds the blade into a shape blade or tries to anyways with her skills.
(Bell trying to learn Herbalism all by herself, however, this may take some time without proper lessons from a master.)
**Bell sits down under the shade of an oak tree, looking around the foliage around the area. She soon drops her green colored backpack from her back, turning her whole to face her load. Bell flips open the cloth lid of the backpack, grabbing out a mortar and pestle along with a small diary with a small piece of coal to write. Bell takes notice to brightly colored pink flower, she uproots the pink flower, staring at the vibrant flower as she notes down the appearance of the flower on her small diary. Bell grabs upon another item of the Earth as she again, dots down some text upon the grabbed herb in the confines of a paper, which is a rounded black-ish plant. Bell pops both plants in her martor before clutching her pestle, lifting the pestle, and brings forth the pestle to the bowl, grinding both plants together. Once done with the mixing, Bell closely eyes the new mixture, taking her coal to just write down the new combination.
(Bell starting her daily practicing her dagger skills against a training dummy and training her Dexterity)
(Dagger training) **Bell darts herself forward to the standing dummy, quickly lowering herself, once in close enough to land her blade against the surface of her target. She stabs the “gut” of the dummy as the dull copper blade rips through the rough cloth skin, Bell moves forward her blade across the rest of the dummy’s “gut”, spilling out a pile of sand upon Bell. She steps back as she sighs, dusting herself off of the coarse sand. “Still not the same as a real target, however, it’s better than nothing I guess.” Bell walks to the rest of the dummies, stabbing, slicing, and generally repeating her attack methods, soon running of uncut dummies.
(Dexterity training) **Shortly after running out of non-batted dummies. Bell plays with her iron dagger, placing the dull copper blade into her white robes. She tosses the dagger high into the air, catching it mid-air and then twirling the iron blade in her hands back and forth. Once bored with doing the same thing over for a while. Bell throws her dagger to her left side of her head, using the right arm. Bell maneuvers her left hand to catch the handle of the dagger, mid-air. Given the time that she has. Bell uses her iron dagger as a tool to do some maneuvers akin to modern day baton twirling.
(Bell on her daily routine of practicing some skills for the day and also don’t miss the last routine up above this one, Madcombat)
(Bell taking the time to increase her understanding of Herbalism) **Bell walks to the same oak tree that she sat under yesterday. She moves around in a search to find some plant life, hopefully noticing some herbs or otherwise. While she is at the task of finding foliage, Bell sets her backpack down and opens it, removing her mortar and pestle, and lastly her diary along with coal to write. Once able to find some kind of herbs that she assumes to be herbs anyways, Bell dots down some notes about the lot, proceeding to drop her new findings into the mortar and grinding the plant life into a paste. Then noting the smell, look, color etc about the new combination down on her diary pages. Repeating the steps and trying to find what is and what is not right to make and the sorts. Yet she has a long way to go, trying to learn herbalism on her own.
(Bell improving her Dexterity) **Bell does a series of stretches, involving standing with her feet shoulder-width apart and knees bent slightly, leaning forward, placing her hands just above her knees. Rounding her back so that her chest is closed and her shoulders are curved forward, then arching her back so that her chest opens and her shoulders roll back, repeating that single stretch several times along with others. After stretching her body for a bit, Bell takes four somewhat same sized rocks and throws the lot into the air, catching them and tossing the rocks into the air again and then catching the rocks, recycling the steps for a while, hopefully improving her hand-eye coordination.
(Bell making a simple bow and practicing her bow marksmanship) **Bell grabs a skinny long wooden stick, then taking some fibers from the grass to form a string. Bell proceeds to cut a single nock on both ends of the stick, after shortly Bell ties the string on both ends of the makeshift bow, bending the bow into shape as she ties the string. The bow itself, however, is most or less for practice and not for battle. Bell grips upon a few short wooden sticks, placing a nock on one end of the stick for that she can easily steadily aim her shots as she can fit the nock into the string. Once done with the manufacturing, Bell loads her bow with the makeshift blunt wooden arrows, firing her shots at a tree. Getting more far from the tree as she gets more comfortable with bow handling. This should hopefully get Bell some skills, having no experience with a bow before.
You merely need to post logs of what you do in-game that you think is relevant. Routines etc that're not roleplayed in game isnt acceptable in my book.
The dagger skill is due to an encounter you had with certain Beastmen.
That is all I will say on the matter, if you feel I am misunderstood on your logs then do send a PM and I will take it there. That is all I ask you say on this thread too as it isnt for discussion.
(Can you update my skills from the last logs too?)
**Bell approaches the same oak tree that she has been going to for the last two days now, dropping down her backpack from her back onto the grass ground. Bell opens the backpack, taking from the leather confines, a diary of her written info so far on Herbalism and a single piece coal to write, however, not her mortar and pestle for the day. Bell circles the tree, attempting to identify plant herbs, picking what she knows so far in her understandings and writing down more notes upon the foliage that she uprooted from the Earth. Bell takes notice of some salts between the grass blades, bending over and grabbing a handful of the salt. She smells and details the experience and appearance of the salt on her diary, dropping the salt back into the tall grass. After identifying what Bell hopes is useful material for mixing. She packs up and fucks off for the day.
(Posting paper to buy grape vines)
**Bell looks upon the wooden notice board with paper, nail, and hammer in hand, she then grabs a stool to lift herself and hammers the nail into the board, pinning the paper onto the notice board. On the paper itself, it says “Looking for grape vines to buy, price shall be discussed, contract Sofia Bell for more info. Bell steps off of the stool, placing the stool back to where it was and leaves.
(Harvesting a wheat field for Smith)
Daniel Smith says "And bundle up the wheat."
Sir Daniel Smith says "I'll have another serf do the other."
Sofia Bell says "I'll cut the wheat with my iron dagger then."
Sir Daniel Smith says "Use a sickle, the farms have equipment."
Sofia Bell says "Ah, got it."
[LOOC] Sir Daniel Smith: just icly around here
[LOOC] Sofia Bell: I'll start on the text wall then
[LOOC] Sir Daniel Smith: ye
**Bell bends over to grip the handle of a harvesting sickle as she walks into the tall wheat plants. Lowering herself and using the sickle to cut the wheat from the bottom, leaving a trail of fallen wheat. Once finished with the harvesting process, Bell picks up some string from the farm equipment place and process to tie up bundles of wheat, leaving the bundles to where they were. Bell also kinda stores the sickle into her backpack for safekeeping, of course.
