The 26th Reckoning of the First Age: Humanity
“Naturally, the creatures of Surna will always be corrupt and they shall always seek power. Humans embody this fact.”
The 26th Reckoning was the herald to the birth of the human intelligence and revolution that had been seen in the elves hundreds of years before them. Indeed the 26th Reckoning brought into existence the numerous forces that was humanity into power against rival creatures. No longer would the Elves hold the considerable power they once held for many reckonings and indeed would humans be the future of Sevilidan. On the first year of the Reckoning Humans had ascended from a tribal people to a bustling society of trade and commerce and to the elves dismay they had settled directly on the southern border of Shal’thalar. Understand that the Thalarian High-Elves had suffered greatly by the power of the Chaos that had battled their world and as many Thalarians had seen themselves torn apart by the chaotic power plays humans only dared to step on their borders building great mighty cities and an strong frontier. Thus began the Thalarian-Ashen Wars
The 29th Reckoning of the First Age: The Thalarian-Ashen War
“The Elves are a proud people and for a lessor race the tread on their frontiers, their forests is an grave offence.”
The name human was not always true to the appearance of which the ancestory of human-kind had beheld for once humanity doned the ashen skin and rotting appearance that the Darkness had bestowed upon all races in the dark reign the Thalarians had once fought against. No one knows what had broken the ashen curse yet once free humanity propelled itself. Ancient Shamans told of an great light in the darkness which would free the cursed people from the ashen curse and that time was close yet humans knew little of the world they inhabited only of the land they lived and so when the Humans finally encountered the proud Elvish Thalarians they knew not of the aggression they imposed upon the Thalarian ancient forests of Nar’Shadaw. It would be the destruction of the Nar’Shadaw forests and the construction of the magnificent city known as Karrack that would spark the Thalarian-Ashen Wars over the land. Though the Elves by this time had been the experienced warriors in combat from which they fought chaos the humans held an natural way of war and had been far numerous in comparison to the splitting Elfish race. The humans would find victory in Nar’Shadaw beating the Elves back past the great bridge leading into the Forests of Shal’thalar from which the Elves would become secluded.
31st Dragon-Reckoning of the First Age: The River Athelix
“He came wrapped in golden silks in a basket of gold through the River Athelix.”
All men know the coming of the Bright-lord, the ancient prophecies of which the druids of ages had told their Ashen sons of. Indeed the coming of an great saviour had arrived wrapped in golden silk inside an basket of gold down the river Athelix to which he’d arrive in the town named after it’s River. The baby would be found by the human chieftain at the time as the river carried the child and quickly dives into the waters themselves to pull the basket from the gushing waters to which he’d behold in his arms an child of golden hair and pink skin. As the chieftain besets his hand upon the child he feels an warmth from the child only to find he himself like the child has become pink-skinned. No longer Ashen and of decay he took this as a sign that this child would be the one to grace humanity and bring it from the Dark Ash. This child would be known as the Bright lord and would guide humanity from ashen curse into a golden age.
32nd Dragon-Reckoning of the First Age: The Bright Lord
“We are not worthy, none of us are yet the light embraces us because we are unworthy. It loves us all and we strive only to be worthy of its love. That is what we are.”
Humanity within a single reckoning had matured and grown from an tribal civilisation pressing out on its frontiers to one of religious belief and nobility. War-like honor had been swallowed a-whole by the chivalry that the Bright-lord had promised which came from the light. Humanity had grown in belief to follow their King, their master to which they came to call the Bright-lord. It would be the all-knowing Brightlord that would lead humanity into an age of gold and prosperity under the teachings and ways of the light. Humans would quickly evolve from the ashen husks into the pink-skinned refined humans that all know and the bright-lord delivered peace in return for the devotion of humanity and worship of the radiant light. All knew it existed, it was undeniable and with it came the miracles of the light. All had brought witness to these miracles of healing and strength. Those weak no longer under the light were weak but strong and those who are blind no longer were blind. The Light truly embraced all and with that not only humanity. The Bright-lord was an excellent diplomat, an master. The Brightlord would ensue masterful relations and restoration of the Thalarian people to the North even cleansing them of the sick and empowering their magics once again. No longer was the Thalarians weak and from which they sent emissaries and masters of the Arcane into the Holy Kingdom which the Brightlord had created to teach the masses about the mysteries of the Arkansor and the power of the Arcane. The Elves would also cede their rightful claim of the Nar’Shadaw forests to the Brightlord formally and thus’ Nar’Shadaw became a hub of trade between the Elves and Humans. Nar’Shadaw forests would be renamed to the Forests of Karrack and Karrack prospered.
33rd Dragon-Reckoning of the First Age: The Holy Kingdom
“I welcome our Thalarian friends to the town of Sturnbridge, I bestow upon thee the title of count and grant the creation of an city state with exception to our laws but the laws of both Elves and Humans.”
The Second Holy Reckoning brought with it grand co-operation between many races and not just only the Thalarian high Elves of Shal’thalar but also the rising Mithril Kingdom to the south. The Bright-lord would grant elvish migrants land south of the Capital known as Hillsurn named after the great ancestral hills which sheltered the great city. This town would come to be known as Sturnbridge, an city bordering the great Sturna River which flowed from the very mountains of Hillsurn into the holy river of Athelix to the south. Sturnbridge would become an place of culture and education between all races such as the Elves and humans and acted as great embassy’s between the races of the world. Sturnbridge would hold separate laws from the rest of the land neutral to all races. Another great thing of importance to the city was that all races came to the city to learn of the great Thalarian arcane and so not only a place of culture but great learning. The Holy Kingdom under the leadership of the Bright-lord had constructed great cities, bridges and fortifications throughout the land. However, who would sit upon these thrones and fortresses would be brought about through the 34th Reckoning of the First age.
34th Dragon-Reckoning of the First Age: Lords of Fire
“They shall be my advisors, generals and great allies in the years to come, they shall rule my lands where I cannot always be present. They shall lead my armies in the best interests of my subjects. The true face of humanity and I gift upon them the righteous fire.”
It would be during the third holy reckoning reign of the Bright Lord that the governing of his realm would begin to be spread among the nobility of the Holy Kingdom for it would be the sons of the Kingdom that would receive the Keys to the Kingdom for when the Bright Lord no longer remained on Sevilidan. The Holy Kingdom would be split into Duchies and counties all with their respecting lords. It is here the Bright Lord would write the rights of the Lords of Fire and the duties of which they habit. It would be the Lords that led the armies of the Light and brought righteous fire against the Dark.
The 3rd Dragon Reckoning to the Fifth Dragon Reckoning of the Second Age: The Death of the Bright Lord and the fragmentation of the Kingdom.
“The Lord of the Light, the Bright Lord hath gone, rejoice for the light embrace him and he emboldens it.”
During the 3rd Reckoning of the Second Age, the Lord of Light, the bright lord passes away at an incredible age of over two-hundred years old. Those who bore witness to the Bright-lords passing say he left in the form of an angel wielding an golden sword leaving for the heavens as an winged spirit. What follows is the sons of the Bright Lord to take the throne of his passing and lead the Holy Kingdom into the future yet despite magnificent plans the Lords of Fire held different beliefs for only one could lead the Kingdom into the future and thus’ war ensued between the sons until all but one remained. They say during the battles of the war that blood fell from the sky, blood of the fallen and the sky fell black with sadness. The result of the war would lead to the creation of an house known as Dragunsurn led by the blood of the Brightlord though the Kingdom fragmented with the Ashen Lords in the Ashen lands succeeding from the Kingdom amidst the war. Dragunsurn would rename the Kingdom Surna and his rule would be as just as his father.
The 10th Dragon-Reckoning of the Second Age: The Blood of the bright lord and the Eternal Flame
“I feel age in my flesh and I realize I am more mortal then my father, fathers lessons did not sit well with the plotting lords. I shall establish an holy order dedicated to upholding the ideals of my father.”
During the Reign of Dragunsurn he would come to know humanity in his rule being exposed to the desires of the noble families of the heroic Lords before them and in them only saw corruption and darkness in such Lords of Fire. Darkness would creep back into the Kingdom from all around and rumours of chaotic creatures roaming the land reach the kings ears. Thus the creation of the Eternal Flame came forth. An order of Paladins and warriors dedicated to combating evil and fighting in the name of the people they swore to protect to which appointed at the head of the flame, an High Lord known as Lord Isiliden Truthcaller.
The 36th Dragon-Reckoning of the Second Age: Hour of the Dreadlord: Sevilidan 1
“You shall seed my enemies with fear and break them Dreadlord or I shall break you.”
Like the first age the forces of Chaos once more plotted the destruction of Sevilidan and would send an dreadlord known as Sthenno. His arrival in the world would reap the creation of many cults in the region of Karrack and the subjugation of souls to which served at his dark will. It would be Sthenno and his dark master that would unleash an great plague of undeath on the city of Karrack an Reckoning later
The 37th Dragon-Reckoning of the Second Age: Birth of a Highlord.
“Rise up Crusaders, the Dreadlords end has come!”
It would be during the 37th Reckoning that the Eternal Crusade arrive in the city of Karrack to battle the undead forces of Chaos lead by the Dreadlord known as Sthenno. For a year the two battled their armies to claim the land. It would be during the war that the Dreadlord captures the wife of the Highlord holding her ransom and demanding the High Lord sacrifice himself for the life of his wife. This would result in the High Lord calling for an intense crusade against the Dread Lord. The battle would be known as the Battle of Fort Chill Pass where many Karrackians battled against their undead friends and family whos souls had been corrupted by the Dreadlord. It is in this battle the Highlord crossed his great hammer against the Dreadlord defeating him in combat. He would find his Thalarian wife in the dungeons of the corrupted Fort alive and well and it would be her safety that heralds the birth of the second Highlord.
The 38th Dragon-Reckoning of the second age: The Mark of the light
“I am not worthy.”
During the 38th Reckoning the high-lord would step down from his position of power. He would give his power and position over to his twenty year old son who would take up the position of high Lord. The ceremony of the High Lord would rival the coronation of the King himself as the High Lord took up his father’s hammer pledging to fight the chaos and fight for his people.
The 39th Dragon-Reckoning of the second age: The Immolation of the bright lord and the ruination of Surna
“Ah, Truthcaller’s boy. What brings you to my halls noble friend?”
“My Destiny Bright Lord…”
Came the 39th reckoning the Truthcaller son had arisen as an renown warrior of the light. However not was as it would seem. The highlord became secluded ordering his lock-away at the Fort his father fought the Dread Lord. For years during the Reckoning the High Lord of the Eternal flame had been no-where to be seen until finally leaving half an reckoning later. The Highlord would visit the Capital city where he met the King himself and stabbed him whilst he sat on the throne. It is said the King welcomed the high lord and held both shock and sadness in his eyes as he watched the son of his friend stab him where he received him as his heart was impaled by the blade. Hillsurn turned into an frenzy of citizens trying to escape the city as legions of undead warriors would leave the palace itself slaughtering everyone who they encountered. Hillsurn became a graveyard empty of corpses but blood. Rumour has it the High Lord left Surna leaving across the sea to the north along the slaughtered denizens of Hillsurn never to be seen again. With the death of the King and the High Lord’s betrayal Surna looked to their prince who fled Surna in the hour of need. Rumour has it assassins saw to the Kings claimants. Surna falls into disarray and war once again and the Fire Lords began battle for the control of the Kingdom. The Twenty Reckoning war began.
For two-hundred years Surna would be engulfed in war. Four Lords would battle for the Kingdom relentlessly. In the end even the ancestors of the Lords did not even know why they fight, only that their rivals are mortal enemies. Once more the sky blackened and blood rained from the sky and dark times lay ahead. Humanity fell from their grace and once more became barbourous and war like. Even in the Ashen Lands many humans reverted back to their primal forms of disgusting rotting husks and yet for all an curse rested upon all Surnan shoulders for an black mark would appear on all new born children. The Mark of the dark and the very corruption had reappared in humans. Surna became riddled with plagues and wars for the times ahead.
The 10th Dragon-Reckoning of the Third Age: The End of the Twenty Reckoning war of Succession
“Gods give us peace, give us bloody peace!”
For more than two-hundred years the human kingdom of Surna battled amongst itself in the wake of the death of their beloved King as the lords of fire take up the claim for the position of King. It wouldn’t be until the 10th Reckoning of the third age that finally the self proclaimed King of Karrack fought his way to the ruined capital of Hillsurn and beat each Lord in decisive duels forcing them to pledge their loyalty. Hillsurn would be rebuilt throughout the end of the Reckoning yet would never be the glory of which it once stood.
The 12th Dragon-Reckoning of the Third Age: Human Ruin
“My Kingdom will not fall into ruin, my family fought for more then 200 hundred years for this. It Is my birth right!”
The Kingdom of Surna suffered greatly under plague and foul crop shortages. With the curse came great weakness as humanity found itself becoming unable to use the Thalarian Magic and Light alike. No longer would miricles exist in Surna and no longer would the people be viewed as free-citizens but peasents. Truly Surna became an feudal society with the Lords ruling absolute. Family disputes are often in Surna and Surna risks constant succession from the noble families.
The 13th Dragon-Reckoning of the Third Age: Sevilidan 2
“I see the winds of fate.”
In the Duchy of Karrack events begin to unfold on the Thalarian Border. The Eternal Flame is a fickle of its former self branded heretics after the actions of the High Lord. Karrack itself is home to many dangers from the reckoning of the second age and all seems uncertain yet hope is on the horizon. All depends on Surna’s heros.
During this time many individuals distinguished themselves in battles against the growing beastman threat that threatened the security of the Eastern Glades, home to Karrack. As such heroic figures such as High Priest Glacius, Baron Daniel Smith and Baron Vandel Drek came to the defence of the region, all of which had been granted titles and status of prestige through their fights. One such battle was the siege of Nar'Shadaw where Baron Daniel Smith led his forces in defense of the County and encircled the beastmen Horde and settled their defeat decisively leading to the end of the Beastman threat. Since those times, Baron Smith would be rewarded his County and more rights. Yet little to his growing knowledge did he know he made a mistake which threatened his rule. He permitted a fellow Lord High Priest Glacius the right to build on his land and so Nar'shadaw is threatened by succession between the baronies on the land.
The 13th Dragon-Reckoning of the Third Age: Sevilidan 3
A year later after the beastmen invasion, a large tribe of Orcs from the south in the cold peaks seek refugee north in hopes of settling land, they find themselves in the Duchy of Eastern Glades where Duke Durna intends for no savage Orcs settle. War is once again on the horrizon and a chance of a growing feud between the Heroes of the East looks like it is about to unfold in blood. Yet the fabric of reality seems to rip and tear- a burning crusade awakens.
What took place was a tale of grim events, heros rised to meet a challange of a burning onslaught from the skies. Why was this possible? Fate? A accident perhaps- maybe a misjudgement. A great human Paladin known as Glacius killed a proto-Brightlord near a Demon Alter and as such filled the Abyss with a great sacrifice, more then they could ever hope for. A Abysal portal opened near Shades Harbour as demon folk poured from the depths to reek havoc upon the world. Heroes far and wide fought for control of this portal and eventually broke their way into a world in the Abyss, ruined and destroyed they fought their way to a demonic Dungeon where they rescued the soul of their Brightlord and upon return to Sevilidan they worked to revive him. As this Brightlord Dacius was revived, he had began to cure the heroes of their curses and ills and soon he rose to meet the demonic threat himself, he affirmed himself as King of Surna and traveled to Shades Harbour with the heroes and a small retuine of followers. Together the heroes fought to restore peace to Shades as they used the village as a staging ground- it wouldnt be long before the party broke West declaring their war for the destruction of the Portal.
Upon reaching the Portal, the Heroes along with a army of followers fought for three months to finally break inside- they had created a plan and this plan was their only hope as the threat was endless. They would pour into the Portal in one decisive strike and in a blitz storm the fortress. Their goal- disrupt the portal rendering it useless from inside their world. The group agreed, but how would they return to Sevilidan? The group knew this was a one-way trip and so the Brightlord himself traveled with the Heroes. They would never return.
