Alright. I've spoken to most the people directly involved or affected in the Yantar event. This list consists of Madcombat, Sheriff, and Connington, as well as opinions and thoughts from multiple other community members I don't care to list. These are the most noteworthy sources I've found for info on the subject. I've heard multiple stories and ideas, and I'm going to make an ATTEMPT here to explain exactly what happened for the whole server to see in such a manner that it doesn't piss in anyone's cereal.
I'm going to attempt to create a rough timeline here:
- The UKM preps and later sends a HIND to Recon the situation at Yantar.
- DUTY and Clear Sky Forces along with assorted STALKERs begin their assault on Rostok.
- As the Monolith fear the worst as the STALKERs make progress, they begin packing up their supplies and equipment in Yantar, as well as plant explosives or something of the sort on the Ecologist Bunker.
- Monolith forces are nearing defeat at Rostok, with the STALKERs now in the Bar area
- Monolith forces at Yantar blow up the Ecologist Bunker, but not before the Ecologists and the STALKERs inside escape through a service tunnel they had avoided using prior due to the nature of Lab X-16 and the obscene difficulty it would pose to escape through this route.
- Monolith forces immediately pull back from Yantar and subsequently the Army Warehouses.
- The UKM Recon HIND does a fly-by of Yantar, however there are no survivors or enemies spotted, and the mission to assault the facility is aborted shortly before it would have commenced.
- The STALKERs that were in the Eco-Bunker, in an event GM'd by Connington from here until the room with the Miracle Machine in it, sneak, and at some points fight, their way to the machine and destroy a single control panel, disabling it or at least mostly disabling it (this has yet to be decided as far as I'm aware).
- The STALKER Force at Rostok completes the taking of Rostok from Monolith, there are few Monolith survivors who were ordered to pull back with the bulk of the force.
This is the course of events as I have come to understand it from the statements made by the aforementioned 3 individuals. While this course of events was, as I'm sure many are aware, not the most effectively performed or communicated event, I believe with possibly some small adjustments made to this timeline, we can all agree that it is, while imperfect, functional as in it works and we can all just run with it and not worry too much about it itself. Though I will say, we need to come up with a system by which to properly organize and setup these events in a clearly defined manner.
I would happily setup such a system should you guys want me to create a proper suggestion thread that helps to simplify how we handle these very important and complex events. This is something I personally think should have been done awhile ago, but I'm also a very orderly, clear-cut type of person.
