Mining: **Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens did a quick look-over of the pile of rocks and searched for any ore veins within them. He'd probably discover one eventually and lugged it out of the pile and placed it on the ground. Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "Aha! Got one 'ere. Let's see what it gives us." **Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens shrugged as he looked it over, "Just some copper. Ech, screw it. Might as well." He got to work on lifting the pickaxe over his shoulder and send it flying down towards the chunk of rock. "Clink.. clink.. clink.." he mined away at it, eventually depleting it for all it had. Vandel Drek says "Works for us, we need everything we can gather. The lord requests that we get beastmen for his arena in the near future." Vandel Drek says "We will need the ore so I may fashion the armor so that we don't fall so easily." Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "Alrighty. Might just want to sell the copper honestly, doubt it'll do much good." Vandel Drek says "Much better to fashion the product first and then sell it off? After our use of it of course." **Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens stowed the ore he had gathered away into a sack and tied it up with a small, sturdy length of rope. He turned, prepared to drag it along. Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "Guess so."
Gained 4 copper ore and handed it off to Daniel Smith
Second mining session: **Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens retrieves his own pick from over his shoulder and brings it out in front of him. He took it in both of his hands as he searched around the cluster of rock, carefully and eventually discovering an ore vein. "Aha. Here we go." Katherine Mellinstone says "No I must say I don't." Katherine Mellinstone says "Not a stranger to the process however." **Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens uses his pickaxe to free a chunk of it from the cluster and brought it out into the open to which he twisted his pickaxe around, lifted it up over his shoulder, and began to pick away at the ore. "Clink-clink-clink." Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "Aha! Got ourselves some iron finally." (Someone) teleported to Sir Daniel Smith Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "Ploughin' too long enough. Damn." Vandel Drek says "Iron? Wonderful! Sir Smith will be pleased." Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "Aye.." Katherine Mellinstone says "Wel done." [LOOC] Katherine Mellinstone: well Vandel Drek says "Let's make our way back before we get the attention of a beast." **Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens eventually depleted the ore vein and laid down a large sack to which he quickly filled with the ore he just mined. Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "Right."
Third mining session: **Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens finally came to a stop at a promising cluster of rock that was sticking out of the cave wall. He let out a heavy sigh of relief as he looked it over to discover that it had some ore left in it. "Ah, took long enough.. Heere we go." You're playing on Sevilidan Fantasy Roleplay | sevilidan.boards.net, enjoy your stay! **Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens went ahead and lifted his pickaxe up over his shoulder after taking it with both hands and began to swing it down upon that rock, chipping away around the ore vein so that he could force it out of there in-tact. Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens has rolled 69. [LOOC] Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens: for giggles **Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens eventually managed to get most of that rock picked away and twisted his pickaxe around to the more blunt-like end so that he could wedge it in there and force the nose semi-loose ore free from the vein and send it tumbling to the ground. "Hnngh.. Out ya go." **Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens crouched down once he managed to get it all out and proceeded to stuff it away into his sack which he tied off, grasped the end, and dragged with him as he left the cave system.
Fourth mining session: **Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens stepped over to the large chunk of rock sticking out of the ground. The man mumbled a few words as he reached behind him to retrieve his pickaxe, "Here we go again.." and tightly grasped the tool in front of him. He gentle poked at the rock and smoothed away some bits of it to search for a decent ore vein. **Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens soon managed to discover something hidden in the rock. A smile formed on his face, figuring it was promising enough to give him a good amount. He glanced over his shoulder briefly to make sure he was alone before turning back to the potentially future coin in front of him. He quietly got to work now and lifted the pickaxe over his shoulder, only to bring it down and slowly pick away around the ore vein. **Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens finished after several minutes or what have you- however long mining some ore takes. Once realizing he had completely depleted the ore vein he went ahead and began to gather up the dropped ore, whatever it might be, and stuff it away into his large sack. "In ya go.." he muttered. Once that was done the man grasped some rope from his belt and tightened it around the open hole in the sack, quickly closing it. **Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens turned around and lifted the pickaxe behind him so let it sit in his simple sling so that he could take the sack with both hands and drag it along out of the cave.
Taught some others how to properly mine ore, if that can improve any skills. A good way to reflect on what he knows, I guess:
Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "Okay." Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "So my father taught me the two most important things to know when searching for a specific ore: know your rock formations and check for clues in underground rivers. If there's something you want floating in the water, go upstream." Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "Iron is made in this thing called sedimentary rock which which will appear to have layers of different colors. It'll look pretty weathered too." Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "So uh, with that in mind, let's go search for some. I'll show you all what it looks like if there's any to be found." Sir Daniel Smith says "Very well." **Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens motioned them all along as he began to walk through the cave system. Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "Aha." **Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens stepped up to the large chunk of rock that was sticking out of the wall. He gave it a few pats and wiped his hand over it, "This 'ere is what we're looking for." He motioned a finger up and down, "See those thin layers? That means there's a chance we'll find some ore in here. It ain't always gonna have a deposit of iron around it, but there's a good chance it will. Just gotta pick away a bit until you find an ore vein." Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "The same technique goes for coal, really. Look at the water, search for black rocks.. They like to form in swamp areas mainly, but some has been found down 'ere. And yeah, I can mine." Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "I'll go ahead and get to picking if you all want to watch." **Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens reached behind him and retrieved his pickaxe. **Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens lifts his iron tool over his shoulder and swung the end down towards the rock formation, gradually beginning to pick away at it. Slowly but surely, the man began to dispatch a few large chunks of the rock as he hastely began to mine through it all. He grew tired and begun to sweat just a few minutes in. "C'mon.. Nngh.. C'mon.. Gimme some iron. Just a lil' bit.." **Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens found something, and whatever it was, he stuffed into a large sack. He got some rope from his belt and tied the end of it. "Aaand.. That's how it's done."
Also fifth mining session during his lesson: **Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens reached behind him and retrieved his pickaxe.
Sparring session with Sir Smith, using a stick. Held it at different times with one hand and two handed.
**Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens grasped his stick firmly as he gazed at it worriedly, "I hope this thing doesn't break." After saying this, the man advanced towards Smith anyways. He'd try and swing it from left-to-right and hit him in the right bicep/forearm.Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "Hah!"**Sir Daniel Smith He'd ground himself firmly on the floor, grunting as he'd swing the sword out towards the left and deflect the incoming blow with the broad side of his sword as to not chop the branch. He grunts slightly and after pushing the stick away he'd retract the sword back towards himself, re-taking the defensive stance he had in the beginning.**Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens allowed the stick to get deflected by the sword and, instead of putting up any resistance, decided to follow through and change the direction of his swing. He brought it down after having it get hit and immediately swung it back up to try and hit Smith in his right hip with it. It was a close proximity swing, so the damage would've been less-- with a greater chance to hit.**Sir Daniel Smith He'd lower his sword briefly and hold hand out towards leo. "hold..." He nods and turns towards the smithy, sheathing his iron sword and holding a hand out. "Ah good. Thank you Rhogar."**Sir Daniel Smith He'd keep the old iron sword out, using it for the sparring purpose as he'd hold it back up and return to his defensive stance. "Let's continue."**Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens nodded in acknowledgement and took up an attack stance. This time he'd try and use his strength to harshly swing his branch down over the top of Daniel's sword in an effort to force his weapon down and at an angle-- further away from him. If he's successful, he'd use this brief moment to try and simply lift his branch up and swing it at Daniel's face. With the branch being so close already, there was probably a good chance it'd hit him. Of course, he'd stop the second before and gently nudge him in the cheek instead.**Sir Daniel Smith He'd take a quick sidestep, and suddenly lift his arms, angling the sword back to block the downward strike. He'd then use his swift skill with the sword over Leo's skill to deflect his sword. He then pushes it to the side and angles his blade so he can use the momentum against him and throw his sword off course as he'd retract his blade from leo's stick and returning to his defensive stance to continue. "Quite a strong strike..."**Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens quickly brought his branch back out in front of him. He nodded a little at that, "Aye, uh.. Suppose that's what happens when I'm beating my--" He coughed a few times before continuing, ".. When I'm beating my pickaxe against rock all day." He got himself back into position. This time, he'd change his stance up and held his branch with one hand.**Sir Daniel Smith he'd begin to slowly step around leo with his sword held firmly, watching for any moves made by him with his sparring stick.**Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens turned and kept his front facing Daniel, feet shifting every so often. He gazed at him carefully, watched his movements and where he was going to step next, and how his sword was positioned. Once he spotted an open opportunity, he'd take a quick step forward and lunge the end of his brange towards Daniel's torso. "H-yah!"**Sir Daniel Smith He'd Take a sudden step back while suddenly lowering his arms and the blade with it. He'd then slash the sword, broadsided at leo's stick and swiftly deflects the jab, quickly bringing the sword back up into a defensive stance after making a block.**Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens brought his stick back after that resumed his attack stance. The man decided to rush Daniel this time by quickly moving forward towards him while simultaneously bringing his stick down on Dan's sword in order to smack it away again. Without leaving Daniel much room to jump back, he'd quickly go to deal another strike towards his chest right after. Of course, this meant Leonardo was extra close to the man too.**Sir Daniel Smith He'd take a sidestep as leo would charge at him, just about getting aside as he blocks the downward strike with a simple upwards block. But his blade was briefly knocked aside by leo's strength. He grunts, but being quicker with the weapon than his opponent he would swiftly draw the sword back towards himself and angle it backwards, deflecting leo's blow and attempting to turn his sword around the stick as the side of the blade pressed against it, trying to knock it off to the side**Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens allowed his original strike with the stick to be blocked, though with Daniel stepping to the side and seeing his sword coming back up so fast, Leo decided that instead of striking, he would instead send his left elbow up for Daniel's face-- the two easily being almost right in front of each other considering Dan's position and Leo having his arms up. Of course, Leo wouldn't do much more other than give him a little nudge.**Sir Daniel Smith He'd of deflected the first attack, but stagger back as his face his smacked roughly with leo's elbow. He grunts and lowers his sword to press the tip into the ground as he holds his cheek. "Hmh..." He'd rub his cheek briefly before looking back up at Leo, blinking a few times. "We'll count that as the end of the sparring. Good enough for tonight, I grow tired."

Second lesson on prospecting: Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "In order to locate most types of ore, you have to know your rock formations and what the stuff actually looks like. Check underground streams 'n' things like that to see if you can find anything in it. If there is, head upstream until you can locate a potential deposit spot." **Sir Daniel Smith folds his arms, listening in on leonardo as he speaks. Taking in the information to use the next time he goes out in the mines prospecting. Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "Now, for coal, it's relatively simple. The real stuff looks just like it does in these here caves-- some black rock. Pretty common stuff, and they grow around swamps and things too. For iron, you're going to want to look for this stuff called sedimentary rock." Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "Sedimentary rock is like.. This uh.. Layered-looking stuff. Each layer will have a different color to it. Pretty simple. If you can find a large chunk of it somewhere, there's likely an iron deposit somewhere around it. Sometimes there isn't. It's gotta do with luck most of the time." Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "Chip away at the sedimentary rock until you find iron and then pick out the iron from the rock without smashing it into tiny pieces." Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "On your pickaxe y'got a pointy end, that's the mining bit. Other end is for pulling out the ore itself." Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "Let's find us some iron now." Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "Yeah, this'll work. This is the good stuff." **Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens retrieves his pickaxe and brought it out in front of him. He used the pointy end to tap it against the rock a few times, indicating the layers, "This is the sorta stuff you're lookin' for. Ain't too sure what the actual names are for whats in this stuff, but.. It ain't really important. Just the ore that really matters-- at least for this sorta work."
Sixth mining session: I forgot to get the logs, but the people that play Vandel, Kateryna, and Daniel Smith were all there to witness it if you want proof. Gained 6 iron ore with an iron pickaxe.
