This is an issue that has been bothering me for quite some time, but I have yet to make a post about it because it hasn't bothered me as much until now.
Main characters in serious roleplay are something that should always be avoided. I understand that I am not a veteran of this community, but in all servers I have played in, not once has having a player play as a "main character" ever worked out in any satisfactory way. The main character I am talking about here is obviously the brightlord, Dacius. I mean no offense to Mad, and his RP is mostly fine. However, having a single character linked to the power of the fucking sun is just ludicrous.
In an ideal situation without any unconscious bias or emotional reactions, main characters are fine. They could potentially make RP more interesting by having more developed, important characters that can lead to important events. However, ideal situations do not exist in practice, especially not in gmod serious RP. At the very least, a main character should never be played by someone with admin abilities. It opens doors to abuse, metagaming, and other questionable uses of power. Along with that, to an outside observer, main characters are often allowed more exceptions, and are giving more leeway in terms of events and roleplay. If you were to compare a regular character and a main character, a main character is almost always better. I am not saying anyone is guilty of abuse or anything like that, but it is very clear that a single character on the server has much more IC power than anyone else, and not through any IC merit.
At the very least, I implore you to reconsider the merits of having a single character that is linked to important parts of the world, such as the sun or the moon, or the weather. You should not give immense power or stats to characters just because that's how you wrote them. It's unfair to other players and makes it seem like the server isn't about the players, but the main characters crafted by the admins. If you need characters to drive events, they should not be played like regular characters at the very least.
P.S. bring back the fucking sun
