Ran again while carrying some logs to exercise for a third time.
**Sir Daniel Smith He'd walk up to the pile of firewood at the back of his settlement and reach out, grabbing two logs from the stack and taking them under his arms. He'd securely hold them and back out, turning and walking out past the reaches of his estate and begins to jog. He runs around the woods by his land for a while, trying to exercise.**Sir Daniel Smith swings around a few trees and turns towards the graveyard. He begins to run towards it while holding the two weights in his arms with a steady panting as he soon approaches the small valley in between him and the graveyard.**Sir Daniel Smith He makes an easy run downhill with the logs, grunting slightly as he moves through the bottom of it and begins to practically climb uphill at a quick pace.**Sir Daniel Smith He doesn't stop however, jogging out of the small valley with some effort, he eventually clears it and runs the rest of the way, moving a few dozen meters towards the gates of the graveyard before turning and jogging off towards the right in another direction.**Sir Daniel Smith He approaches the riverside and makes another turn, running alongside upstream as he glances around the check his surroundings. by now his arms tense up and struggle to hold the logs up but he continues to carry them in his arms with some strain.**Sir Daniel Smith As he'd pass across the bridge he would turn towards the right, beginning to run along up the dirt road in a jog to make his way back to civilization.**Sir Daniel Smith He'd follow the pathway and all it's turns and curves to not cut any distance out of his intense excercise, forcing himself by will to keep the hefty firewood logs under his arms as he runs back towards his estate.**Sir Daniel Smith He'd slow his jog as the estate comes into full view, still trotting along and eventually making his way back to the lands he owns. He drops the two heavy firewood logs in his tired arms and sighs. Catching his breath before heading inside to rest.
[LOOC] Dacius Truthcaller: Prospecting?[LOOC] Sir Daniel Smith: yea for coalDacius Truthcaller has rolled 30.**Sir Daniel Smith He'd soon clear out enough rock to dig the chunks of coal from inside the wall. Soon gathering them up and placing them in a small pouch.[LOOC] Dacius Truthcaller: You got coal - you can't choose at one *[LOOC] Sir Daniel Smith: ah ok[LOOC] Sir Daniel Smith: thx[LOOC] Dacius Truthcaller: np**Sir Daniel Smith He'd carry the pouch of coals on his back and place the pick away, dusting his hands off and returning to the mouth of the cave where he'd exit.
**[Long. Braided ginger beard| Long ging...] would approach the group and dig out the true steel ingot, holding it out to daniel "here you go, all done."Vandel Drek says "If you have the free time to do so now, I wouldn't mind some practice."[LOOC] Vandel Drek: oi smith you missed some ore you piece of shit[LOOC] Rhogar Shieldheart: it's ic wise cause i dont actually melt down the materials cause I cant spawn them**Sir Daniel Smith nods and takes hold of the ingot, investigating it's craftsmanship before he stores it away and reaches out to pull out 5 coins, handing them to the dwarf. "Good."
Later recieved lessons in prospecting iron from Leonardo.
Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "Okay."Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "So my father taught me the two most important things to know when searching for a specific ore: know your rock formations and check for clues in underground rivers. If there's something you want floating in the water, go upstream."**Sir Daniel Smith he'd nod and listen quietly, taking note of what Leo says.Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "Iron is made in this thing called sedimentary rock which which will appear to have layers of different colors. It'll look pretty weathered too."Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "So uh, with that in mind, let's go search for some. I'll show you all what it looks like if there's any to be found."Sir Daniel Smith says "Very well."Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "Aha."**Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens stepped up to the large chunk of rock that was sticking out of the wall. He gave it a few pats and wiped his hand over it, "This 'ere is what we're looking for." He motioned a finger up and down, "See those thin layers? That means there's a chance we'll find some ore in here. It ain't always gonna have a deposit of iron around it, but there's a good chance it will. Just gotta pick away a bit until you find an ore vein."
Later gave the ingot to rhogar to make a truesteel longsword.
**Sir Daniel Smith He'd pull out a whole bunch of ores in some pouches, handing them over to the dwarf as well as the truesteel ingot he had just recently recieved, heaving and setting down the pouch of heavy materials for the dwarf along with 10 coins.
**Rhogar Shieldheart Would approach his furnace, pulling out four coal ore and six iron ore and put them into a mold, he would melt them all down until he had about three steel ingots and two coal ingots, he would then combine those into one single mold and melt it down to make a true steel ingot, once that was hardened he would put it into a mold with the other true steel ingot he had made before, melting them both down and combining them,he would begin making the sword first, He would take the metal and place it on his anvil and begin hammering it into the shape of a sword, wiping the sweat from his brow he would stick the metal back into the furnace to heat it up again and bring it back to the forge, he would continue to hammer it with a loud *tunk tunk tunk* noise with each hit of the metal, once it was in shape he would take it over to his grinder and just rest his foot on the pedal, he would then start pressing his foot down and lifting it back up in a rythmic fashion, keeping the grinder spinning as he sharpens the metal into a point and then grinding the sides into a sharp edge for each side, after it was sharp enough and the end pointed he would take a small engraving knife and mark his symbol on the base of the blade, just above where the handguard would be. After this step he would take the blade and heat it up to a very hot temperature until the blade was red with heat, he would then dip it into his quenching tank and quickly pull it out, making sure it cooled evenly and hardened evenly as well he would then stick it back into the furnace until it was hot but not as hot as before, he would then dip it back into his quenching tank and pull it back out in the same fashion he did before, he would repeat this process until the blade was hard yet flexible enough to be usable, thanks to his mastery of the craft it would be perfectly hard as well as perfectly flexible, after all this he would set the sword down on his anvil and fish through his box of handles, he would pull out a simple wooden handle and a handguard, he would then shape them onto the blade, making sure the blade could not slip out of hit and comfortable to hold just the same, once this was done he would hold it in his hands and give it a few swings to make sure it was balanced enough, once he made sure it was he would smile to himself and wipe the sweat from his brow and clean up his forge and refill his quenching tank with fresh cold water.
sparred with Leonardo using his longsword, two handed.
**Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens grasped his stick firmly as he gazed at it worriedly, "I hope this thing doesn't break." After saying this, the man advanced towards Smith anyways. He'd try and swing it from left-to-right and hit him in the right bicep/forearm.Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "Hah!"**Sir Daniel Smith He'd ground himself firmly on the floor, grunting as he'd swing the sword out towards the left and deflect the incoming blow with the broad side of his sword as to not chop the branch. He grunts slightly and after pushing the stick away he'd retract the sword back towards himself, re-taking the defensive stance he had in the beginning.**Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens allowed the stick to get deflected by the sword and, instead of putting up any resistance, decided to follow through and change the direction of his swing. He brought it down after having it get hit and immediately swung it back up to try and hit Smith in his right hip with it. It was a close proximity swing, so the damage would've been less-- with a greater chance to hit.**Sir Daniel Smith He'd lower his sword briefly and hold hand out towards leo. "hold..." He nods and turns towards the smithy, sheathing his iron sword and holding a hand out. "Ah good. Thank you Rhogar."**Sir Daniel Smith He'd keep the old iron sword out, using it for the sparring purpose as he'd hold it back up and return to his defensive stance. "Let's continue."**Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens nodded in acknowledgement and took up an attack stance. This time he'd try and use his strength to harshly swing his branch down over the top of Daniel's sword in an effort to force his weapon down and at an angle-- further away from him. If he's successful, he'd use this brief moment to try and simply lift his branch up and swing it at Daniel's face. With the branch being so close already, there was probably a good chance it'd hit him. Of course, he'd stop the second before and gently nudge him in the cheek instead.**Sir Daniel Smith He'd take a quick sidestep, and suddenly lift his arms, angling the sword back to block the downward strike. He'd then use his swift skill with the sword over Leo's skill to deflect his sword. He then pushes it to the side and angles his blade so he can use the momentum against him and throw his sword off course as he'd retract his blade from leo's stick and returning to his defensive stance to continue. "Quite a strong strike..."**Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens quickly brought his branch back out in front of him. He nodded a little at that, "Aye, uh.. Suppose that's what happens when I'm beating my--" He coughed a few times before continuing, ".. When I'm beating my pickaxe against rock all day." He got himself back into position. This time, he'd change his stance up and held his branch with one hand.**Sir Daniel Smith he'd begin to slowly step around leo with his sword held firmly, watching for any moves made by him with his sparring stick.**Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens turned and kept his front facing Daniel, feet shifting every so often. He gazed at him carefully, watched his movements and where he was going to step next, and how his sword was positioned. Once he spotted an open opportunity, he'd take a quick step forward and lunge the end of his brange towards Daniel's torso. "H-yah!"**Sir Daniel Smith He'd Take a sudden step back while suddenly lowering his arms and the blade with it. He'd then slash the sword, broadsided at leo's stick and swiftly deflects the jab, quickly bringing the sword back up into a defensive stance after making a block.**Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens brought his stick back after that resumed his attack stance. The man decided to rush Daniel this time by quickly moving forward towards him while simultaneously bringing his stick down on Dan's sword in order to smack it away again. Without leaving Daniel much room to jump back, he'd quickly go to deal another strike towards his chest right after. Of course, this meant Leonardo was extra close to the man too.**Sir Daniel Smith He'd take a sidestep as leo would charge at him, just about getting aside as he blocks the downward strike with a simple upwards block. But his blade was briefly knocked aside by leo's strength. He grunts, but being quicker with the weapon than his opponent he would swiftly draw the sword back towards himself and angle it backwards, deflecting leo's blow and attempting to turn his sword around the stick as the side of the blade pressed against it, trying to knock it off to the side**Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens allowed his original strike with the stick to be blocked, though with Daniel stepping to the side and seeing his sword coming back up so fast, Leo decided that instead of striking, he would instead send his left elbow up for Daniel's face-- the two easily being almost right in front of each other considering Dan's position and Leo having his arms up. Of course, Leo wouldn't do much more other than give him a little nudge.**Sir Daniel Smith He'd of deflected the first attack, but stagger back as his face his smacked roughly with leo's elbow. He grunts and lowers his sword to press the tip into the ground as he holds his cheek. "Hmh..." He'd rub his cheek briefly before looking back up at Leo, blinking a few times. "We'll count that as the end of the sparring. Good enough for tonight, I grow tired."
**Sir Daniel Smith After handing the sword towards her he would reach for his own, truesteel longsword and pull it from his side. Grasping it in two hands and raising the blade into a defensive position as he widens his stance. **Kateryna Petrovich Nods, slowly taking a spread legged stance, left foot forward, right back as she grips the sword in two hands, he muscles tensing as she makes a swing, attempting to litterally slap him with the broad side of the swords blade, Expecting him to block it. **Sir Daniel Smith He'd easily swish the blade to the side, the hard truesteel blade deflecting her swing and his arms immediately retracting so he returns to the defensive hold he was originally using. **Kateryna Petrovich Slowly, backs off, taking another attack stance. Taking a step forward as she swings low this time, attempting to smack him in the thigh, ensuring he was moving to block the blade before she quickly brought it up and attempted to smack him in the hand. [LOOC] Kateryna Petrovich: 12 strength [LOOC] Kateryna Petrovich: 11 dex [LOOC] Sir Daniel Smith: got it [LOOC] Sir Daniel Smith: a bit higher than u **Sir Daniel Smith He'd swing his arms around and downwards, swinging the blade in a half circle from above to below. He just about clashes the sword into her blade, knocking it aside of throw her swing off from slapping his hand as he'd raise the sword back, quickly bringing it back around and holding it close. **Kateryna Petrovich huffs quietly as she takes her stance again, attempting to thrust her sword forward in an attempt to impale him, not really, her thrust was fast but she wasnt intending on letting hit stab into him, instead she waits till he knocks the sword aside then proceeds to go right for his gonads **Sir Daniel Smith He'd instinctively swing his sword downward, angling it out to easily deflect her jab as she thrusts the sword towards him. Her kick lands him in his nuts and he grunts, lowering his sword and jabbing it into the ground to hold onto for support briefly. **Kateryna Petrovich Grins as she quickly brings her sword down in an attmpt to smack him in the back of the noggin with the broad side of the sword. Making sure if she did hit, she would kick the sword out from his hand. **Sir Daniel Smith He'd see her bringing her arms up with the sword, throwing himself out of the way of the strike and pulling the tip of his blade from the ground and getting up on a knee. He brings the sword back up to a defensive stance as he just about dodges the downward whack, glaring at the beastkin. **Kateryna Petrovich Grunts as she watched him get up, expecting him to attack, she was still holding her sword in both hands, getting it hit and almost hooked as she quickly dropped the sword in the oppisate direction, her sword turning more so upside down as she still holds it, the blade still hooked as she suddenly. And rather abruptly rushes forward in an attempt to knock her shoulder into him, the only advantage she had at this point was her added athletics which gave her a wee bit more agility. **Sir Daniel Smith He'd hold his ground, his stance being firm so he was able to hold himself as she charges in, smacking into his shoulder with her own. He keeps the blade pushing against hers, quickly pushing his arms straight towards the left with tilting his sword in to the right to swiftly slap the hard metal blade's broadside against the side of her head. **Kateryna Petrovich Lets out a rather animalistic Yipping sound of surprise. Quickly covering her mouth and backing off as she got the sword to the side of the head, grumbling as she nods and holds out the sword, holding her head now as she huffs. Aknowladging her loss she grumbles and holds her head. **Sir Daniel Smith He'd take his sword back after slapping her with it, unhooking it from her blade and bringing it back down to sheath it at his side. He'd take the handle of the sword she was using as it was offered back to himself, nodding once and heading back inside to store it. "Watch the estate. Call the guards over on any trouble. I'm heading to the mine." **Kateryna Petrovich nods
Took a lession from Leonardo Dickens with *** in prospecting about prospecting.
Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "In order to locate most types of ore, you have to know your rock formations and what the stuff actually looks like. Check underground streams 'n' things like that to see if you can find anything in it. If there is, head upstream until you can locate a potential deposit spot." **Sir Daniel Smith folds his arms, listening in on leonardo as he speaks. Taking in the information to use the next time he goes out in the mines prospecting. Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "Now, for coal, it's relatively simple. The real stuff looks just like it does in these here caves-- some black rock. Pretty common stuff, and they grow around swamps and things too. For iron, you're going to want to look for this stuff called sedimentary rock." Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "Sedimentary rock is like.. This uh.. Layered-looking stuff. Each layer will have a different color to it. Pretty simple. If you can find a large chunk of it somewhere, there's likely an iron deposit somewhere around it. Sometimes there isn't. It's gotta do with luck most of the time." Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "Chip away at the sedimentary rock until you find iron and then pick out the iron from the rock without smashing it into tiny pieces." Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "On your pickaxe y'got a pointy end, that's the mining bit. Other end is for pulling out the ore itself." Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "Let's find us some iron now." Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens says "Yeah, this'll work. This is the good stuff." **Squire Leonardo 'Leo' Dickens retrieves his pickaxe and brought it out in front of him. He used the pointy end to tap it against the rock a few times, indicating the layers, "This is the sorta stuff you're lookin' for. Ain't too sure what the actual names are for whats in this stuff, but.. It ain't really important. Just the ore that really matters-- at least for this sorta work."
**As Daniel is swinging at the spearheads above him, he finds an arrow strike him in the left back shoulder. Felzu continues on through the cracks. It would appear a distance is forming between the groups due to the spears poking at each other from both parties.
Hacked off a bandits spear head with his longsword, two handed.
**Daniel does however manage to slice a spear head off the left spearman. **Next turn.
Assisted in using his sword, two handed to kill a bandit spearman.
**The final spearmen is unable to fend off so many attacks, he is diced and sliced. Sun Wang finds trouble balancing on his feet, the pain is horrible. Felzu knocked the previous swordsman back earlier, he however finds the same corpse he pushed towards him earlier being sent directly towards Felzu whilst he was making his acrobatic moves behind the scene.
Assisted in killing the last bandit swordsman.
**Sir Daniel Smith He'd thrust his truesteel sword out, attempting to viciously impale the bandit in the solar plexus and withdraw his weapon, hopefully slaying him before he could grab for vantar's sword **The bandit is impaled from likely all directions, being turned into swiss cheese.
Count Durna Eddicus says "You understand that very town is a port-town, no?" Sir Daniel Smith says "Yes sir. It's a huge place for commerce and trade." Count Durna Eddicus says "Used to be, that is." Count Durna Eddicus says "Do you know the name of such town and it's history?" Sir Daniel Smith says "No m'lord. What town is it?" This server is running ULX Admin Mod v3.73d (03/21/17) by Team Ulysses from ulyssesmod.net **Count Durna Eddicus begins to tut "It is the Duty of a Knight to know history." Sir Daniel Smith says "Well I'm all ears m'lord. I've been meaning to educate myself." Count Durna Eddicus says "The town is known as Nar'shadaw." Count Durna Eddicus says "It was the subject of the first Ashen-elfish war." Count Durna Eddicus says "Are you aware of the Thalarian-Ashen War?" Sir Daniel Smith says "The thalarian ashen war? I don't believe so, m'lord. Maybe in the back of my head perhaps." Count Durna Eddicus says "The Thalarian-Ashen war, it took place in the 29th Reckoning of the First age over 100 reckonings ago." Count Durna Eddicus says "Before the Brightlord, humans were not always as we are now. Our ancestory was rooted in tribalism and barbaric non-sense." Count Durna Eddicus says "We waged a war on the Thalarians and took the town whilst they had been weak from the scattering of their own race." Count Durna Eddicus says "For over 100 reckonings, we have held the Town- hence it's strange name." Count Durna Eddicus says "It is a cross-way into Southen Forests of Shal'thalar." Count Durna Eddicus says "It is also a important harbour for trade to Shades and the rest of Surna." Sir Daniel Smith says "I see." Count Durna Eddicus says "During the last reckoning, Nar'shadaw was bannered by a previous Baron known as Esturac the drunk- you can assume his lord over the land fell when he let in a caravan selling ale and wine only to discover such merchants had been bandits." Count Durna Eddicus says "Swifty, the town fell and I have yet to be able to reclaim the land since the Beastmen arrived." Sir Daniel Smith says "Ah."
